Amotrol A60i vs Husqvarna CEORA 546 EPOS

Both are RTK-guided commercial robots with no boundary wire. They are built for different jobs, and the specification that gives it away is not the one you would expect.

We make one of these two. So here is the conclusion first, before the argument that supports it: if your site is a fixed area up to about five hectares and you are judged on how the turf looks, the CEORA is the better machine and we would tell you so on a sales call. If you are judged on how many acres are finished by a deadline, on ground with no power supply, read on. All Husqvarna figures below are from their published specification, August 2026.

They are not in the same class

This comparison gets requested a lot, and the reason is that both machines tick the same three boxes in a search: commercial, RTK satellite navigation, no perimeter wire. Those similarities are real. Underneath them the two machines answer opposite questions.

The number that gives it away is not price or acreage. It is weight. The CEORA drive unit is 74 kg — a large robot, liftable by two people. The A60i is 280 kg: a four-wheel-drive machine with a 60-inch deck and an onboard generator. The CEORA is lighter than ours by a factor of nearly four, and that is the point — it is a fraction of the machine, because it is solving a fraction of the problem. One of these lives on a lawn permanently; the other gets trailered to a site, cuts it, and leaves.

The rate column follows directly from that. The CEORA covers 1,800 m² an hour; the A60i covers 7,000 — 3.9 times as much ground per hour, before you account for the fact that one of them stops for 150 minutes to charge and the other does not. If your problem is throughput, that ratio is the whole comparison. If your problem is finish, it is almost irrelevant.

Where the CEORA is the better machine

This is not a courtesy paragraph. There are sites where buying an A60i would be the wrong decision:

  • You need zero emissions at the point of use. A growing number of campuses, municipalities and healthcare sites have policies that a combustion engine cannot satisfy, however efficient. That is a hard constraint and no argument about duty cycle overrides it.
  • Noise is the binding constraint. 72 dB(A) is quiet enough to run beside occupied buildings at unsociable hours. A range extender is not silent.
  • The area is fixed and the standard is "always perfect". A machine that lives on the turf and cuts a little every day produces a finish that periodic mowing does not, whatever the deck width. That is genuinely CEORA's home ground.
  • Nobody wants to operate anything. Install it, set the virtual boundaries, and it manages its own charging forever. There is no refuelling, no trailering, no scheduling.
  • Under five hectares, no deadline. If the machine has all week to cover the area, duty cycle stops mattering and you should buy on finish and simplicity.

Where the A60i is the better machine

  • Acreage, against a clock. The CEORA's 1,800 m²/h with a 150-minute charge after every 250 minutes of cutting is designed for continuous unattended operation, not for finishing a large site inside a window. Twelve hours of uninterrupted cutting on a 60-inch deck is a different shape of day.
  • No power at the site. The CEORA needs its CS4 charging station installed, which means a supply where the machine parks. Solar sites, airfield perimeters, remote sod blocks and highway verges frequently have no such thing. A fuel tank does not care.
  • More than one property. The CEORA is an installation. If the same machine has to cut four sites this week, you want something that trailers.
  • Slopes and rough ground. The CEORA's published limit is 20% inside the installation, which is 11.3 degrees. The A60i is rated to 30 degrees — a 57.7% grade, close to three times the angle. Electric drive at all four wheels is why: there is no engine sump in the drive path to starve when the machine tilts, so the ceiling is traction and stability rather than lubrication.   • Taller or heavier growth. A 20–70 mm cutting height tells you what the CEORA is designed to maintain. It is a maintenance machine, not a machine for grass that got away from you.
  • You need a number before you can start. Ours is published; theirs is a dealer conversation.

What it costs, as far as anyone will say

Husqvarna does not publish a price for the CEORA, and neither do its US dealers — SiteOne, for instance, quotes on request. European dealers do list, and the listings are worth reading carefully because of what they include.

Buxtons, a UK Husqvarna dealer, lists the CEORA 546 EPOS at £19,599 including VAT as of August 2026. Read their product description before you anchor on that number: it is the drive unit. In Husqvarna's own words on that listing, it is "to be equipped with the tailor-made cutting deck, RZ 43M/RZ 43L, and charging station, CS4" — both sold separately. In Ireland, Hanly's Garden Machinery lists a CEORA 546 EPOS package at €35,465.

Those are European retail prices including VAT, and ours is $39,800 ex-works excluding freight, duty and local taxes, so this is not a like-for-like comparison and we are not going to pretend it is. What it does establish is the order of magnitude: a complete CEORA installation is in the same money as an A60i. Nobody in this class is meaningfully cheaper than anybody else.

Which makes the rate column the whole argument. Comparable capital outlay buys either 1,800 m² an hour with a 150-minute charge stop, or 7,000 m² an hour with none. If throughput is what you are buying, that is close to a four-to-one difference in what the same money does per hour. If finish on a fixed area is what you are buying, the CEORA's continuous daily cutting is worth more than any hourly rate, and the price parity stops mattering.

The comparison people actually get wrong

The frequent mistake is reading "50,000 m² working area capacity" as "cuts 12 acres a day". It does not mean that. It is the size of installation the machine can maintain on an ongoing cycle, cutting a portion of it continuously. Husqvarna is clear about this — the hourly figure of 1,800 m² is right there in the same specification — but the two numbers get conflated in comparisons constantly, including by people trying to sell against it.

The honest framing: the CEORA maintains up to five hectares indefinitely and unattended. The A60i cuts a large area quickly and then goes somewhere else. Neither of those is a better number than the other. They are answers to different questions, and the question is set by your site, not by the machine.

If you are cross-shopping these two

Ask yourself one thing: is the machine going to live on this ground, or visit it?

Everything else follows. A resident machine should be light, quiet, emission-free and able to dock itself, and the CEORA is all four. A visiting machine needs range, traction, a wide deck and independence from site infrastructure, and that is what we built.
