A commercial machine, not a scaled-up residential robot
Most robotic mowers on the market are built for lawns under an acre: a 20 to 30 inch deck, a battery, and a docking station the machine returns to several times a day. They work well in that job. They do not scale to a golf course rough, a sports complex, a solar site or a contractor's five-acre account.
The A60i is built for that second category. The cutting deck is 60 inches across and carries three blade discs. All four wheels are driven, on turf tires, so traction does not disappear the moment the ground gets soft or tilts. Navigation is RTK GPS with dual-antenna heading, which means the machine knows not only where it is but which way it is pointed — that is what produces repeatable, straight, overlap-free passes instead of the random-walk pattern older robot mowers use.
And it is a hybrid. There is a battery pack, and there is a small engine driving a generator that keeps the pack topped up while the machine mows. That single design decision is what separates a machine that mows for a shift from one that mows for an hour and then charges.
Duty cycle, not deck width, decides how much gets cut
Two machines with the same deck can differ by a factor of two in daily output. What separates them is how much of the working day is spent cutting rather than charging.
Battery-only mowers dock
A battery robot mows until the pack is down, drives back to its station, and charges. On a big property that round trip is dead time, and it lands in the middle of the working day rather than at the end of it.
The A60i runs 12 hours on a tank
The range extender charges the pack while the machine cuts, so one fill is a full 12-hour shift. Topping the tank is a two-minute job any grounds crew already knows how to do, and it happens on your schedule rather than the battery's.
Fuel use is still low
Because the engine drives a generator at an efficient operating point instead of powering the wheels directly, fuel consumption runs up to 30% below a conventional commercial mower doing the same work.
RTK GPS, no boundary wire, no random walk
The A60i navigates from RTK GPS corrections with a two-antenna heading solution, giving position accuracy of about one inch. Work areas and exclusion zones are defined in software, so there is no perimeter wire to trench in, cut, or repair after aeration.
Practically, that shows up in three places. Passes line up edge to edge, so you are not paying to cut the same strip twice or sending someone back for missed strips. Stripe patterns are repeatable, which matters on any surface people look at. And because the route is planned rather than random, coverage of a defined area is a known quantity instead of a hope.

The A60i is built on an all-aluminium body of the kind used in vehicle construction, not a steel frame with panels bolted to it. Against machines of similar cutting width, that puts it 30 to 50 percent lighter — and on turf, weight is not a neutral quantity.
- It does not mark the ground it just cut. Compaction and rutting are a function of weight over contact area. A lighter machine on turf tires can work soft ground, and work it weekly, without leaving the wheel tracks a heavy mower prints into a fairway or a field.
- Traction improves rather than suffers. Less mass to hold on a grade means each driven wheel has less to fight, which is why light plus four-wheel drive climbs ground that heavy plus two-wheel drive cannot.
- Less energy goes into moving the machine. Every pound that is not there is a pound the drive motors never accelerate, turn or push uphill — part of why fuel use runs up to 30% below a conventional commercial mower.
- It trailers easily and it does not rust. Moving between sites is a light-duty trailer job rather than a heavy-equipment one, and an aluminium body does not corrode from underneath after five seasons of wet grass and fertiliser.
